Welcome to the Warwickshire Chess Association website
The aim of the association is to promote junior chess, county chess, correspondence chess and tournaments in Warwickshire.
The aim of the association is to promote and support chess in Warwickshire including open chess tournaments, junior chess, and organising Warwickshire teams to compete in national compeitions.
Each year the association runs a series of Championship tournaments to determine the the Warwickshire Chess Champions. These are open to everyone and there are sections for players of all abilities. The best scoring Warwickshire player across the series is awarded the title of Warwickshire County Champion and the best scoring female player is awarded the title of Warwickshire Women's County Champion. We also run a series of junior events and organise junior teams for Warwickshire to participate in national junior competitions. The association enters up to 4 teams into the inter-county championships. The championships are run through the Midland Counties Chess Union (MCCU) and the best 2 teams from each section progress to the English Chess Federation (ECF) national stages.
There are 3 local leagues that players can participate in - the Birmingham and District Chess League, Coventry & District Chess League and the Leamington & District League.
